The award winning film HOT FLASH HAVOC is enlightening, entertaining, humorous, profound, and is a crash-course in what you need to know about perimeniopause & menopause. It has the power to be a life-changing experience for every woman in your life. Every women over 35 needs to have this information. NBC’s Health Goes Strong by Celest Perron is quoted, “An entertaining, at times Laugh-out-loud funny take on the subject, and the first film to address the issue of menopause head-on.” HOT FLASH HAVOC is the most provocative and revealing film ever made about menopause. For the first time this film sets the record straight about the Women’s Health Initiative study released in 2002, which misrepresented that the hormonal replacement therapy being used by millions of women to treat the symptoms of menopause could actually increase the risk of heart attacks and cancer. This misinformation caused confusion, hysteria, and fear among women as well as healthcare providers, endangering the health and well being of millions of women, many of whom flushed their hormones down the toilet. This film not only sheds insightful light on the confusion stemming from a decade of misguided facts, but conveys poignant personal stories shared by real women and in-depth interviews with the world’s most noted experts. HOT FLASH HAVOC provides compelling information about menopause that will empower women for the “Second Act” of their lives.

“Outliving Your Ovaries: An Endocrinologist Weighs The Risks And Rewards Of Treating Menopause With Hormone Replacement Therapy” provides break-through, new menopause research explaining why pharmaceutical topical bioidentical hormones are safer than the most commonly used hormones. Dr. Marina Johnson gives poignant clinical stories from her 28 years of clinical experience during which she has managed over 100000 female patient visits. These stories depict the tragic consequences of estrogen deficiency and the joy of transformation that occurs when a woman is made whole again. This eBook will give a woman a guidebook that helps her evaluate the risks and benefits of hormone replacement therapy (HRT) in clear, easy-to-understand terms so she can better work with her own physician to determine what’s right for her. It’s been estimated that 6000 women in the United States become menopausal every day. That is four women every minute. According to the US Census statistics, 50 million women are expected to be menopausal by the year 2020. In spite of these vast numbers, because every woman goes through menopause, it is often not even considered a medical problem. Fewer than 20 percent of American post-menopausal women take hormones. Of those women given prescriptions for hormones, half of them discontinue therapy after the first year. Estrogen deficiency is associated with increases in heart disease, Alzheimer’s disease, osteoporosis and many other medical conditions that …

Please, No More Hot Flashes

Article by Loretta Moreland

One of the most common and joked-about symptoms of menopause is the famous hot flash. You won’t have to wonder if you’re having one, you’ll know. Your face will turn beet red and your eyeballs feel like they are going to blow out of their sockets. Then all of a sudden you’re hit with a shocking chill that quickly turns your sticky sweat into prickly goose bumps. This is not a pretty picture. No warning, just WHAM and it’s there.

Physically, the problem is created by your hypothalamus, it’s the part of your brain that regulates your temperature. What it is supposed to do is detect when you’re body temperature is rising and it tells your body to start sweating, then as the perspiration evaporates it naturally cools your body’s temperature. That’s the way it is supposed to work to keep you from getting too hot. However, during menopause rapid changes in hormone levels in your blood can cause sudden waves of heat. These heat waves confuse the hypothalamus and it starts trying to cool your body down by rushing blood to the surface of the skin. As a result, your face turns red or flushed, then you experience a sudden chill as your body temperature finally adjusts.

You never know how long a hot flash is going to last, they vary in intensity and length. They may last only a few seconds up to five minutes. Since you never know when you are going to get a hot flash, it pays to be prepared. If at all possible dress in layers and always have a bottle of water with you. You might consider keeping some instant cool packs in your desk or purse so you can instantly break one open and apply to your forehead. And, you can never have too many facial blotting tissues. If the hot flashes come frequently, you might want to carry one of those portable fans or a small spray bottle with water. Adding just a few drops of lavender or lemon oil to the water in the spray bottle will make you feel more refreshed after a hot flash.

Tips To Reduce the Frequency of Hot Flashes

If you aren’t already taking a daily vitamin and mineral supplement, start supplementing your Vitamin C intake. You might consider taking up to 3,000 mg per day. This dose will help relieve hot flash symptoms by improving capillary strength and reducing the potential for flushing. But of course, anytime you add anything to your medical regime, whether it’s potent vitamins or a herb product, always discuss it with your physician first to make sure it won’t interact with your other medications.

Green tea can also be used to cool down hot flashes; it has many soothing and healthful qualities, but get one without caffeine. Perhaps you can find one that is designed specifically for menopause, which means it should contain herbs such as linden leaf for relaxation, sage to help alleviate night sweats and red clover to reduce the severity of hot flashes.

Prescriptions can be used to treat severe hot flashes, but be advised these are usually low-dose antidepressants and even at a low dose they can produce some very unpleasant side effects. If your physician prescribes a antidepressant, make sure he explains all the various possible side effects that could be produced by taking the medication.

Aren’t Hot Flashes Responsible for Night Sweats?

Unfortunately, hot flashes are not restricted to daytime and can linger well through the night. These hot flashes are referred to as night sweats. It’s impossible to sleep when your body’s temperature is at the boiling point. Even after the night sweat passes, you still can’t sleep because you’re lying in a pool of your own perspiration.

There’s evidence to suggest that consuming caffeine and spicy foods during the day can contribute to the onset of night sweats. You might find it helpful to lie on absorbent towels and then remove them as they become soaked. Consider placing an oscillating fan beside your bed and keep a glass of water on the nightstand for hydration.

It’s important to understand that even though you are totally miserable, this too will eventually pass. Remaining calm is important as you pass through this phase of your life.

phoenixnutritionals.com (CLICK HERE) For years, medical doctors have touted the benefit of taking calcium and perhaps a magnesium supplement to slow down the progression of bone loss, a condition called osteoporosis. They have been reluctant however, to go so far as to say that these minerals can prevent or improve osteoporosis. This is because early studies indicated that taking calcium did not effectively increase bone density in menopausal and post-menopausal women. Recent studies however show that osteoporosis and bone loss can indeed be controlled and even reversed by the right combination of calcium, magnesium and select trace minerals. Studies conducted on osteoporosis and bone loss patients at the University of California at San Diego, have shown that when calcium and magnesium are combined with the right ratio of the trace minerals boron, manganese, copper, zinc and most recently, strontium, the return of calcium ions to bone tissue accelerates as much as ten-fold. Further, the calcium and magnesium used for osteoporosis and bone loss must be an acidified, chelated form for maximum absorption. Studies repeatedly show that a combination of citrates and malates provide the best absorption to combat bone loss and clinical osteoporosis. Alternatives to potentially dangerous drugs for osteoporosis include the right forms of calcium together with key trace minerals such as zinc, copper, manganese and strontium. As we age, bone loss and osteoporosis become an increasing …

Article by Serenity James

Most of the sufferers of hot flashes are women undergoing menopause – about 75% of them. Some men on the controversial andropause, men on hormone restriction therapy for prostate problems, persons with hyperthyroidism, low blood pressure and low blood sugar are also prone to hot flashes.

When a woman has a hysterectomy, the uterus is removed but not necessarily the ovaries. This means that menopause does not start immediately, in this case. Although she will no longer have periods, the ovaries still release eggs and also produce estrogen and progesterone. However an operation that removes both the uterus and the ovaries.

Many women think that a decline in estrogen is the real cause of hot flashes. In some cases that is completely substantiated, but not always. Truth be told, no one is completely sure what causes a hot flash. Theories abound, but no one can pinpoint the exact reasons even though numerous studies have been taking place over recent years.

When the hot flashes are mild, simple modifications to behavior patterns help manage the problem. Avoiding spicy food, alcohol, caffeine, smoking, diet pills and hot environments can eliminate or reduce the intensity of hot flashes. Exercise, as advised by a physician, helps a lot. A moderate attack of flashes needs more attention.

The most common and often the most irritating symptom associated with menopause is the hot flash, sometimes called a hot flush. As many as 75 percent of women going through menopause in the United States experience hot flashes with 10% to 15% of women having severe or frequent hot flashes.

Chinese scientists found that reducing blood pressure can reduce menopause symptoms. They formed an herbal formula, which has two functions: to reduce blood pressure and increase body-made estrogens. The herbal formula has 80% effective rate to reduce blood pressure based on a clinical trial in 2000. Best of all, it has 90% effective rate to reduce hot flashes.

Another hot flash cause could be lack of estrogen. There is a part of your brain, called the hypothalamus, which gets “confused,” so to speak, with the sudden drop in estrogen. Since the hypothalamus is sometimes called the “body’s thermometer”, it will suddenly read that it is too hot. The brain responds by alerting your nervous system to do everything it can to rid your body of the heat.

A hot flash is a sudden, intense version of what the body normally does to cool down when it is overheated: Blood vessels near the skin dilate and you break into a sweat. But why, when a woman is sitting at her desk or driving down Main Street, does her body suddenly think it is overheated? The causes of such thermal chaos are only partly understood.

Before you try black cohosh for hot flashes and night sweats, you should check with your doctor and tell him or her about any pre-existing medical conditions that might worsen with the administration of this ancient herb. Once you get the go-ahead from your health care provider, you can experiment with various forms of this remedy for yourself.

Most of the sufferers of hot flashes are women undergoing menopause – about 75% of them. Some men on the controversial andropause, men on hormone restriction therapy for prostate problems.

Article by Jessie Tanady

It is certainly a good idea to learn about the best means that can help in reducing menopause hot flashes because even if the symptoms are not the worst that can affect you they can still do you a lot of harm and thus should be put down as early as possible. Most women that suffer from menopause hot flashes will no doubt wonder if there are any effective means by which to get relief, and mercifully for them, the good news is that there are a few things that they can try in order to get immediate relief – even if it only means finding short term relief.Strikes Without Any WarningThe truth of the fact is that hot flashes don’t actually give any warning about when they are going to strike and this can be a frustrating thing, because hot flashes often occur at times that can cause you a lot of embarrassment. For those who experience menopause hot flashes, it would be a good idea for them to try out a most reliable as well as trusted solution to their problem and that of course, is to go in for hormone replacement therapy. However, hormone replacement therapy can also mean risking bad consequences including risk of cancer and heart disease. And so to be on the safe side, you should opt for hormone replacement therapy only if your doctor advises you to do so.Another simple solution when it concerns dealing with menopause hot flashes is keeping a log about all of the episodes of hot flashes that have affected you including their start times as well as any possible things that help to trigger off a bout. Once you know these facts, you can then simply avoid things that trigger your menopause hot flashes and in a simple and effective manner get much needed relief.By exercising regularly for about half an hour each day, it is also possible to cope better with your menopause hot flashes and in fact, even a simple exercise such as walking is highly effective. It has been found that women with symptoms of menopause have noticed that walking helps to improve their sense of well-being. Of late, even yoga has been recommended because many of the yoga exercise that you do have proven them to be very effective in ridding, or at least reducing your bouts of hot flashes.Keeping your body cool is another good way of combating menopause hot flashes and so, you should set your room temperature to a bit below what is comfortable for you. However, this will cause others living in your home to remonstrate with you because nobody quite takes so kindly to having to freeze or be chilled to their bones. In any case, cooling your wrists with ice and also keeping your neckline as cool as possible can also prove to be very effective in dealing with menopause hot flashes. Finally, you also need to deal effectively with the stress that menopause hot flashes causes and thus you should try to breathe deeply because deep breathing exercises have also been found to effectively reduce stress and they can keep your body cool as well. This is a good and effective, albeit temporary, measure by which you can deal with menopause hot flashes and also get intermediate relief.
